About exhibition

From the manipulation of the images that beat in the subsoil of his memory, Andrés Paredes makes a leap from mimesis to the artificial construction of another possible naturalness in Pulsión de shadow y luz. The force of the various transitional phases of the process, embodied in the power of the textures and the clash between found natural and industrial matter, projects mutant organisms that find overwhelming power in stillness.

The modular installation that sits in the center of the room acts as a container, egg|mind, pushing us to dive into the origin, the shadow, to expand in search of a new consciousness, the light. The mobility of its walls, in which pictorial, sculptural and installation elements merge, proposes unlimited architectural games that allude to the various forms that a process can take during the period of transmutation.
In contrast, the display cases boast of their static and robust character, which allows them to become translucent shells that house diverse objects with a common aspect: immobility complementary to movement. This state of rest and accumulation – marked by the pulsation of imminent change – proposes diving into the underground layers of the mind and coming into contact with individual rawness; the fundamental pause that precedes the drive for expansion and total realization.
In this exhibition act the two tangible worlds that traverse the artist are condensed. Red earth, clay, remains of tacurúes found and wood, a natural material that takes us back to the Misiones jungle – its territory of origin – are melted with cement, vinyl glue, industrial wheels, latex, copper chains, metal meshes and aluminum wires , matter typical of the city.
Understanding that the Absolute manifests itself in the invisible and unbreakable connection between these elements and, at the same time, each particular element embodies the All in itself, can be as transformative as risking diving into the shadow to expand towards the light.
