Ornella Pocetti

“My practice explores the sense of estrangement that emerges when different temporalities overlap within a single image. In these artworks, references to art history, mythology, and contemporary culture coexist, generating scenes that feel familiar yet slightly displaced. I am interested in that threshold where the recognizable becomes unsettling, where reality begins to darken and its more spectral dimensions start to surface. The images function as fragments of an incomplete narrative: bodies, landscapes, and symbols that emerge from a collective and unconscious memory. The artworks oscillate between the material and the spectral, between object and simulacrum. Within this fluctuation, a sensual and disturbing universe unfolds, where desire, violence, and mystery coexist in an unstable balance.”
